LCD Displays

Our LCD displays are made using transflective LCD technology giving excellent clarity in even the brightest of ambient light conditions coupled with long life and are best suited to indoor applications such as airports and rail concourse areas. The chip-on-glass technology employed also gives excellent reliability.
Standard character heights available are 29mm (multiples of 10 characters per line), 63mm (multiples of 6 characters per line) and 100mm (multiples of 4 characters per line). A range of other sizes is available.
The above types are mosaic type LCD where the characters are made up of a number of segments of varying shapes to give nicely rounded characters. Some basic types are suitable for upper case characters only whilst the more elaborate (and more expensive) mosaics support lower case characters and, in some cases, accents.
Alternatively, matrix types have evenly shaped pixels (similar to a dot matrix LED display). In some applications this type may provide a more cost effective solution, but both matrix and preformatted segment displays result in both a modern and clean look.

LCD displays are typically rather more expensive than an equivalent size LED display and do not support smooth scrolling text. The visual appeal of one technology over the other is largely a matter of personal taste.
