Data Display is a specialist in displays for customer information systems (CIS) on the UK rail network and work hard to provide customised hardware and software solutions to best meet our customers needs. We have developed a wide range of passenger information displays to satisfy the requirements of the modern rail station, including next train indicators, passenger information displays, platform displays and station clocks with over a thousand displays in constant use.

With over 25 years experience of supplying customer information systems to many of the most well known railway stations and networks in the world, Data Display's expertise in the rail industry is unrivalled. Examples of our work can be found in many main London underground stations and also the Paris Metro to name a few.

Onboard Displays

Data Displays specially designed on-board destination displays are manufactured to provide an optimum viewing angle for passengers on the platform and report clear, accurate and timely information to passengers.

Platform displays

Data Display offers a wide range of customised platform displays, available for both indoor and outdoor use. All of our displays are designed to withstand constant vibration and are supplied in both water and dust proof housing. A range of different character options is available including alphanumeric and graphic displays. Multicolour displays can also be provided with audio capability.

One of the most popular choices of platform displays is the next train indicator, which is designed to be installed at certain points on rail platforms to advise travellers of train arrival information including arrival time, platform to board. The displays can also feature an integrated real-time clock (available in a character height of 100mm or above) which provides a cost effective alternative to displaying a standard platform clock.

Concourse displays

Data Display can provide a wide range of different concourse displays including large timetable displays, which highlight both destinations along with their corresponding departure and arrival times and platforms. Important messages can also be flashed up in order to alert the travellers attentions to any schedule changes or occurrences which may affect their journey.

We can also design entrance displays, providing directional information or to inform of important travel information such as potential delays or cancellations. Ticket office displays are also a speciality, consisting of variable message signs offering the customer general price and/or ticket information or any special promotions to be brought to their attention.

  • A series of 40″ TFT displays to show summary of arrivals and departures for Liverpool South Parkway Station.
  • An LED Special Notice Board and set of CRT Monitors showing next train information in each of the two concourses at the flagship City Thameslink Station. LED Next Train Indicators and CRT Monitors were fitted thoughout this and a number of other stations on the central part of the Thameslink network in 2003.
  • A Main Board at Brighton Station featuring a combination of red, amber and green LEDs for different fields of information. Installed in 2003.
  • An A to Z departure board showing an alphabetical list of stations with time, platform and status of the next train to one of 200 stations from East Croydon - one of a very small number of A to Z displays in the UK.
  • In 2002, the Data Display Group installed a new Departures Board in Heuston Station, Dublin to supplement the main board installed some years earlier. The new board uses superbright red surface mounted LEDs.
  • Departures board designed for C2C Rail, offering additional space for special messages affecting the customer's journey to be communicated.

LED plasma replacement

Introduced in 2003, our LED plasma replacement is a multi-line LED platform display in a similar size enclosure to the ruggedised 42″ plasma display as used in the UK rail industry. As these come to the end of their relatively short life, our product offers a cost-effective replacement.

The slimline display uses the latest surface mount LED technology to offer a crisp, bright and clear image visible from a wide range of viewing angles, making it ideal for use in the brightest concourses or as a platform display.

Station Clocks

Recently introduced in 2004, our station clocks have been developed in collaboration with three of the UK train operating companies as a cost effective replacement for old platform clocks. Using ultrabright LED technology with automatic brightness control, they are available with GPS receivers for time updates or with Ethernet connection for receiving time updates from an external data feed.
